All about Led Zeppelin

This band is famous in Britain for their song Stairway to Heaven and their co-creation of the heavy metal genre of music. They have been one of most famous groups of all time since their nine music albums got recorded between the periods, 1968 – 79. Over this period, Led Zeppelin has had ticket sales of over three hundred million records for their concerts, held internationally. The four members of this band are Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and John Bonham. The genesis of Led Zeppelin is this: Page, who was a veteran lead guitarist, collaborated in 1967 with Jones on a project, and the duo agreed to continue their partnership on the next project.

For a September tour in Scandinavia, Page asked Bonham as well as Plant to join his band, which was named the New Yardbirds then, in 1968. The following month, they adopted the name, Led Zeppelin. As British bands were much loved in America, Ahmet Ertegun, founder of the Atlantic Records, signed the newly-formed group without even setting his eyes on them.  The first album of this band was titled Led Zeppelin, which was mixed as well as recorded in roughly thirty-six hours in October 1968. The group rose to become a big band and explored a range of styles, from folk ballads to English, blues, and rock, and designed their distinct style.

After this period, they enjoyed a lot of successes in their career, performed in several shows and went on many tours in the US and the UK. However, in the 1970s, there was a series of interruptions in their career owing to deaths, accidents, and other tragic incidents. In September 1980 when one of their tours to the US was very close, Bonham developed pulmonary edema which led to his death.

Led Zeppelin disbanded in December 1980, although they remained popular in public as a group. Two years later, they released their last music album, Coda — a collection of outtakes from different concerts from the 1970s. In the 1980s, the previous three members of the band had a grave break-down in communication, till they got back together briefly in 1985 for a short set. Plant and Page, in 1994, showed they still had some ties left when they did a performance together on the show, MTV Unplugged. This performance was released that year on their album, No Quarter. They then went on a global tour with an orchestra. Jones joined the duo in 1995 when the group became inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, though the 3 of them didn’t do any performance together.  Both Page and Plant, by that time, had gone on to build their careers, making tours and recordings with their bands.

Led Zeppelin will forever continue to be one of the best and greatest bands out there. We love them loads and so should you! They continue to be spread and played all over the world! We love some Led Zeppelin!
